Do you know any website for good book publishing agents ?

Hiya,

I am looking a book publishing agent. You know the person that’s find a publisher and everything for you. Except I don’t know any good websites and can’t find anything on google.

Answers and websites much appericated

Thanks in advance =)

Oh, you’ll find lots of them through search engines if you search for the popular keywords regarding the industry. Except, most of them will be scam artists, vanity presses, and unscrupulous agents that charge you a fee and don’t put much effort into trying to sell your work, because why should they when you’ve already paid them.

http://www.agentquery.com and http://www.aaronline.org both have a list of reputable agents.

You can also check on agents at http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums in their Beware and Background Check forum.

What Company is the best for self publishing my book?

I am in the process of finishing my self help book on visualization. What companies are good for self publishing?

I’m just finishing up a self-published book that I did on LuLu. However, the reason I decided to self-publish is because it’s a regional photography book that will not have a production run large enough for most publishers to consider it, but I know I have a local outlet. Self-publishing means not just writing a good book, but knowing how do attractive layout, proper formatting and marketing. LuLu has some options to help you sell your book, but it’s your responsibility to make sure everything else is right including meeting all the regualtions neessary to get an ISBN number.

For the most part, I agree with the above post. If you are writing a book for wide-spread publication and you can’t find a publisher, it’s probably because you don’t yet have a product that is marketable. Also, while you may make a higher comission per copy, you will most likely loose this gain through much lower sales.

However, if for what ever reasons, you feel self-publishing is right for you, there are many options out there that were not available only a few years ago. The price structure is usually related to how much hands on help they offer. LuLu has very few upfront fees, but no support, You can’t even call them with a question. Other companies have a higher intitial fee, but will give you more help on layout, design, meeting specs, etc.

Best of luck.

Can anyone recommend a good online writing school?

For years, I have been interested in writing short stories and articles for magazines. Does anyone have experience with any of the online schools?

There are some really good choices out there:

UCLA http://www2.uclaextension.edu/writers/detail.php?sID=online
UC-Berkeley http://www.unex.berkeley.edu/cat/online.html#write
University of Washington http://www.outreach.washington.edu/ext/certificates/bytopic.asp#edit

for just a few that are really well known and offer exceptional instruction.

Does anyone know the protocol for submitting a self-published book to a publishing house? Do I need an agent?

I’ve self-published a book, but to get maximum exposure I think it needs to be handled through a publishing house. I can’t find any submission info. on prepublished works. Any insights are appreciated!

To get optimum exposure for your book, you need aggressive marketing and promotion. By doing so, you will be able to get the attention of major publishers and have a higher possibility of them to pick up your book.

You might want to check out this site that offers several options to market your book:

I hope you find this helpful.

What is the best blogging platform for a podcast or a video blog?

I’m an attorney in California and I’ve set up a new domain to market my practice. I want to make it a podcost or a video blog that will have short audtio and/or video clips short legal tips.

I’ve been experimenting with imbedding video on my 360 page. I also have a blog on my regular law office website that is powered by Blogger.com. Blogger.com is okay, but I am looking for recommendations on the best blogging platform to do a podcast or video blog.

I’m sure that I will need to host the video on a third party such as YouTube or Yahoo video, but I should have enough storage space and bandwidth to host the MP3 files on my own site. Any suggestions?

Hi, I’ve used www.poderator.com for video podcasts – they have a very helpful forum and template pages you can use to get you started.
If you just want audio podcasts – www.podomatic.com is a good site as well.

I’ve found the best site for all things podcast related is www.podcastingnews.com

I didn’t store the video podcast on my site, I just put a hyperlink from it to my ‘page’ on poderator.com but if I did this regularly then I would consider storing them on my site. If you create your videos as MP4 or AVI files, they shouldn’t take up too much space.
If you are going to be publishing a lot of video podcasts from your site – it will be the continual requests for these files from users, that may cause problems in terms of your bandwidth and site performance.
