The Ezine Queen’s 7 Reasons to Grow Your Business With Ezines – the Most Effective Online Sales Tool

Business owners across any and every industry are constantly on the lookout for effective (and cheap) ways to market their products and services online. Looking beyond the inundated world of advertising many have found the email newsletters or ezines to be one of the best, inexpensive online sales tools.

Alexandria Brown, known as the Ezine Queen and Author of Boost Business with Your Own Ezine, is one of them. As one of the leading authorities on email publishing, she is a proud advocate of using the ezine to drive sales.

According to Alexandria, offering a free ezine is important because most people are surfing the net for information, not with the intent to buy something. She calls ezines the “bait”. If you can establish yourself as a credible source for information and build a large list of people who are interested in your information, you will create “built-in” buyers. Now, anytime you introduce new products and services you will market to an already-existing customer base.

Here Are The Ezine Queen’s 7 Reasons to Grow Your Business with Ezines Now

1. Ezines Make It Possible to Grow a Mailing List Full of Sales Leads.

By offering a free ezine, you make it possible to collect contact information from tons of current and prospective customers, allowing you to market to them all at once. In every issue of your ezine, you can share information about your products to a targeted audience you already know is interested in your service.

2. Ezines Provide an Effective Means for Promoting Your Products.

Ezines give you the opportunity to demonstrate how great your product is by sharing free examples of what you have to offer.

3. Ezines Help You Position You as an Expert in Your Niche.

Your subscribers will come to see you as an expert simply because you offer good information. Experts sell more and can charge more.

4. Ezines Help You Keep in Touch with Customers.

Ezines help you stay on the radar screen of every past, present and future customer. It’s your job to remind your customers that you are still in business. So keep yourself in front of your prospects so they think about you first when they are ready to buy.

5. Ezines Spread the Word About Your Business Effortlessly.

When you share quality information with your subscribers, they will forward that information to their friends, family and colleagues with just a click of the mouse.

6. Ezines Are an Ideal Way to Get Contact Information from Your Website Visitors

Most people visiting your website will not buy during the first visit. That means you should do anything you can to contact these prospects again. It takes several times for potential customers to see your message before they will take a chance and buy. An ezine gives customers a reason to stick around, and you the opportunity to continue marketing to them.

7. Ezines are Cheap and Easy to Publish

Ezines are easy to design and there are no printing or postage costs. Best of all, you can get your messages out much more quickly than traditional mailings.

Alexandria offers step-by-step tools to creating an ezine for your business in a new book from the Information Marketing Association. From developing ezine articles to navigating newsletter publishing tools, Alexandria shares everything she knows about creating a winning ezine. She is one of 12 information marketing experts featured in Start Your Own Information Marketing Business, an essential how-to for anyone interested in starting an information marketing business.

Start Your Own Information Marketing Business is now available in bookstores.

How would I go about publishing a book?

I started writing a story that is now roughly over 80,000 words. I really want to get it published and I’ve Googled but have only come across a bunch of websites that led me to realize that getting a book published isn’t easy. If anyone out there has any useful info I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, assuming your book is good, you might want to start by finding an agent. You can publish without an agent, but it’s much harder because editors are much more likely to take seriously a manuscript that is already recommended by a professional. Also a lot of publishing companies don’t accept manuscript submissions that are unsolicited manuscripts, or ones that don’t have an agent to back it up.

An agent is someone who knows editors in publishing companies and knows what different editors are looking for and typically lives in New York. In order to get an agent you need to have a finished manuscript to show them. Agents require something called a query letter, which is kind of like a resume. You can look up on google how to write one. A great book to help you find agents to send your query letters to is Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook 2010.

It really helps your odds of getting an agent to take you on if you have some professional experience, like having been published in some place like a magazine. If an agent decides to take you on (which don’t get upset if you get rejected because it’s quite risky for agents to take on new authors) then they will go about finding a publishing company for your story, although it could still get rejected by publishers. Basically, its a long, hard process to publish a book, and most authors (even J.K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer) have faced several rejections before an acceptance.

So, yeah, if you are REALLY serious about publishing your book then, fwi, you’re going to face A LOT of rejection because even great authors faced rejection before getting published. Until the time comes (if it does come) for you to be published keep writing and improving and read a lot. And all of those websites are completely right. It’s anything but easy to get a book published. Another option is to go with self-publishing, which is where, instead of you getting paid for your book, you pay a publishing company to publish a certain number of copies of your book. Usually, though, the only people who read self-published books are the friends and family of the author because bookstores don’t sell them.

what are some small publishing companies for someone writing their first book?

Me and my best friends are young adults that want our books published. Are there any companies that would take us seriously?

Plenty of companies will take you seriously, at least if you take yourself seriously and turn in a clean, obsessively-revised manuscript. If you’re writing young adult fiction, wouldn’t that make you an expert in the genre? (I’m only assuming the book you wrote is YA.)

Learn how to query here: http://www.agentquery.com/writer_hq.aspx

Find virtually any market here:

The second link is a subscription kind of deal, but it’s cheap and completely worth it. I don’t think you will be very lucky unless you spend some money looking for the appropriate market.

is book publishing a good business to start?

i want to start a publishing company, in these trying times, mostly because I too, have a book i want published but I was told "self publishing" is the way to go. if i go that way should i want to start my own company to help other writers as well. what do you think?

Unless you have some serious connections in the world of people promoting books I guess it’s a dead end. Paper books is a slow and painfully going to grave with all the ebook readers taking over the market. Of course, paper books will be around for quite some time, but it’s faster and cheaper to publish electronically. Unless you’ve got some crazy idea under the rug that you plan to pull I suggest try something else.

how much does an average self publishing author earn?

I am writing an aviation technical manual, but im not sure if my effort will be reward if i go with the self publishing route.

A negative amount. Most self publishers do so without an expectation of recouping the money other than through promotion of some related business. If you have a really great idea and a way to promote the book that doesn’t mean you can’t make money. It is just that most people don’t go to those lengths.
